Once KoAm has determined that a student is a good fit for the school, we send the student’s complete profile along with their potential host family. KoAm honors the school’s opinion on this match. If member schools prefer to accept the student before a host family is matched, we will provide the student’s profile to the school before searching for a family.

As we assign no more than one exchange student per class, the number of classes the school has between 4th – 8th grade is the number of students that can be placed at a member school. However, during the Short Visit Program, we may assign a student to a class that already has a Korean student who has enrolled for the whole academic year.

KoAm believes in the total immersion of exchange students into American culture. Having another or many Korean speaking peers in the classroom may slow down the learning process.

As soon as possible! KoAm has a rolling admissions policy, which allows for more flexibility in making this decision for students and host families. Therefore, any time is a good time to recruit host families. The earlier the better so that KoAm exchange students can start school with other students.

“By far, our favorite memory will be when just last week, he asked if we would ever see him again after he went back to Korea. We told him we didn’t know for sure and with a smile on his face, he responded, “Of course, we will see each other again in heaven someday.” Indeed we will — His response touched my heart.”
